Punahou Invited To Play In Emerald City Kickoff Classic In Washington State


Punahou's will take on Eastlake High (Sammanish, WA) in the 4th annual Emerald City Kickoff Classic on September 2 at Qwest Field in Seattle.

The Emerald City Kickoff Classic has played host to some of the top teams in the country over the past three years. In 2004, Bellevue (WA) snapped De LaSalle's 151-game win streak in the Classic. Last year, national power Mission Viejo (CA) beat Issaquah 55-36.

Punahou finished 11-3 last season, while Eastlake, which plays in Washington's highest classification (4A), finished 8-2. The Punahou/Eastlake match-up will be the last game of the five-game classic.

Archbishop Murphy vs Orting 9:30am
Columbia River vs Curtis 12:00pm
Auburn vs Moses Lake 3:00pm
Prosser vs Southridge 5:30pm
Eastlake vs Punahou (Hawaii) 8:00pm

Livai Goes Out On Top

After 10-years at the helm of Kahuku, Siuaki Livai led the Red Raiders to a 102-20 record and four of the last six Division One state championships. Monday, Livai stepped down saying via a news release, it was time to go out as a champion.
